Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) announced that its unit Janssen Pharmaceutica Inc. received a subpoena from the California Attorney General’s Office requesting documents related to its anti-psychotic drug Risperdal.
According to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, the subpoena requests information regarding the sales and marketing and side effects of the drug.
As well, the attorney general is also seeking documents in connection with Janssen’s interactions with California officials “regarding the state’s formulary for Medicaid-reimbursed drugs.”
Several companies, including Eli Lilly & Co., AstraZeneca, Pfizer Inc., and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., have all recently disclosed that they received subpoenas from the California attorney general requesting similar documents for their respective anti-psychotic drugs.
Janssen Pharmaceutica is in the process of responding to the subpoena, which it received in September, according to the SEC filing.
