A new study has investigated the efficacy and tolerability of a prepared combination and lemon balm in an open, multi-centre study. The study focused on children under age 12 who suffered from restlessness and nervous dyskoimesis.
Patients were given the dosage individually by the investigators. A total of 918 children were evaluated for therapeutic efficacy and tolerance of the preparation.
The researchers found a distinct and convincing reduction in severity of all symptoms in both the parents’ and the investigators’ ratings.
The core symptoms, dyssomnia and restlessness, were reduced from moderate-to-severe to mild or absent in most of the children. In all, 80.9% of the patients suffering from dyssomnia experienced an improvement for this symptom and 70.4% of the patients with restlessness improved markedly.
For the other listed symptoms the overall improvement was 37.8% on average. Both parents and researchers assessed the efficacy as “very good” or “good”. The tolerability of Euvegal® forte was considered as “good”, and in 96.7% of the patients it was found to be “very good” or “good.”
No adverse reactions occurred in relation to the medication in this trial. Euvegal® is effective in the treatment of younger children with restlessness and dyssomnia and appears to be very well tolerated.
