My daughter was given Zoloft on the first 1/2 hour appointment with a therapist to discuss her anxiety over a relationship. She was 16 years old, and immediately began to have horrible nightmares and become very disturbed on the drug. She was hospitalized voluntarily because she did not feel safe. In the hospital, her doze was increased from 25mg to 150mg, she hung herself 3 days after her release. The FDA cover-up of suicidal evidence in clinical trials of SSRIs amounts to a weapon of mass destruction. Although these drugs may help many people, there is no regard for the population that does not tolerate them. We were never told of any problem with these drugs whatsoever. Hopefully that much has changed now with the Black Box warnings. As parents we thought the drug was helping a problem that our daughter had developed, when in fact the drug was the problem. It all happened so fast, and now there is nothing we can do except hope it doesn't happen to more people.
