Specific chiropractic is a specialty within the field of chiropractic care.
The “Specific” Chiropractor
is a Brain Stem Specialist who specializes in the upper cervical C1, C2 area
of the spine, allowing care for a more severe and wider range of conditions.
These specialists maintain that subluxation in this area can cause major problems
within the entire central nervous system and thus, the entire body.
The upper cervical spine surrounds the lower portion of the Brain Stem, and
this area is considered the main control center of the entire nervous system.
Specific Chiropractors are trained to monitor the functional ability of this
level of the nervous system and correct any interference to normal function,
including nerve interference (pressure) caused by a subluxation of one of the
top two bones in the neck.
Subluxations can be caused by any one (or a combination) of three factors:
- Physical Trauma, such as a minor fender bender while driving, a hospital
birth process, contact sports, or a slip and fall.
- Mental stress, i.e. work
related or psychological stress.
- Toxins, such as prescription or over-the-counter
drugs, food related toxins like artificial sweeteners, pesticides, additives
or preservatives.
A subluxation may exist for many years without detection and the symptoms
are the last aspect of any disease process to show.
No matter what kind of disease you may have, it simply must have a cause.
By specializing in the upper cervical brain stem region, the Specific Chiropractor
is working with an area that controls our entire nervous system. Science has
linked over 5,000 different maladies to a malfunctioning of the brain stem.
These broadly range from Allergies to Deafness, Back Disorders to Hay Fever,
and far in between.
Most people think of chiropractic as treating tension and pain in the upper
or lower back. The main premise of Specific Chiropractic, however, is that
something as small as a slip in the winter can create a specifically diseased
brain or body. A minor slip or fall can trigger pressure on the brain stem
and its trillions of fibers by subluxating an atlas or axis in the spine. Undetected
and untreated, this pressure may manifest itself over time in a myriad of disorders.
Just as we must brush twice daily and visit the dentist every 6 months to maintain
our teeth, Specific Chiropractic is a means for maintaining our spine, and
thus our overall health. And unfortunately, unlike dentures, there’s
no replacement for a severely damaged spine.
